Rose Gold Vermeil: Instagram’s Hottest Trend Is Showing No Signs of Going Away
24th September 2018
From Gucci style backless mules to head to toe leopard print, there have been some amazing style trends so far in 2018. When it comes to shades and hues, the rose gold trend has taken centre stage this year and shows no signs of going away.
It’s not just on the catwalk and high street that rose gold is unparalleled, it’s a hugely popular trend amongst tech gadgets, cosmetics, hair colours and interior accessories. Some of the most lust after items on the market at present all share one thing in common – that they’re a whimsical shade of rosy gold.
When it comes to jewellery, think of rose gold as gold’s modern and romantic cousin. At Lucy Quartermaine we’ve been pioneers of the trend for some time now, with lots of our expertly designed collections featuring pieces in rose gold vermeil. It’s easy to see why it’s loved by the nation – it brings a soft glow to outfit choices and looks great on everyone!
What is Rose gold Vermeil?
Vermeil (French for silver and pronounced ver-may) is essentially gold-coated metal. To create rose gold vermeil, the jewellery piece is made in sterling silver first then a thick final layer is coated in gold. If done correctly the intricate process creates a luxurious glossy finish that is incredibly durable and lasts for many years. Vermeil was extremely popular in the Victorian era, when it was used around the home as well as to wear.
Why We Love Rose Gold Vermeil
- It’s Universally Flattering. Rose gold vermeil is a unique metal and seems to complement every skin tone and hair colour.
- It looks great in photos. Probably why it’s taken the Instagram world by storm – rose gold vermeil gives a subtle pretty reflection against the skin. Who needs highlighter and selfie lights?
- It’s a trend that has stood the test of time. Rose gold gained exposure in 2016 when the Pantone Colour of the year was announced as ‘rose quartz.’ Two years on and it’s still as popular as ever with many autumn/winter 2018 high fashion collections featuring variations of the hue. We’re confident it’s here to stay.
